We want to help support your forest stewardship journey.
The Michigan Forest Association (MFA) and the Michigan Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) are proud partners in the Forest and Water Fund. Supported by the United States Forest Service (USFS), there are $6.4 million dollars available to support forest management projects on private lands in Michigan.
Individual landowners can apply for up to $25,000 in direct cash reimbursement for implementing outlined practices on their forested properties. Practices include protecting high carbon reserves, implementing prescribed fire, planting native trees, and conducting forest health treatments. Any private Michigan landowner who owns less than 2,500 acres is eligible to apply, but priority will be given to new landowners (owned land for less than 10 years), veterans/active duty military, tribal land owners/organizations, and landowners with limited resources or who live in high-poverty regions.
