    Enjoy an afternoon of learning at our Women Owning and Appreciating Woodlands (WOAW) Workshop. Speakers include representatives from Michigan Forest Association, NW Invasive Species Network, and Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy. We will discuss a variety of topics and will finish the afternoon with a visual forest management plan activity. Learn more about your local forest ecology and how to be a better forest steward.

    The Environmental Stewardship Recommendations for Contractors training is for professionals who are doing restoration, landscaping, construction, or road maintenance work. We will cover topics such as navigating pesticide rules and laws, applying for soil erosion permits, helpful organizations and information for environmental management, and mitigating tree damage and oak wilt spread. The day will end with a Q & A panel with all speakers.

    Women in the Woods: Investigating Michigan Wetland Habitats

    Calling all women adventurers! Join us as we head off trail to explore the natural communities at Gahagan. Terrain will be rugged and a bit more difficult than our regular hikes. Waterproof footwear is highly recommended.

    Tree Planting Workshop with Presque Isle Conservation District

    Join MFA and PICD to discuss how to plant and care for seedlings, and how and what to order from a conservation district seedling sale. We will also be creating the area’s first Neighbor Network, a coalition of like-minded private landowners interested in helping each other with their tree planting projects and meet their forest stewardship goals. We will have pizza and beverages available for attendees.
