Enjoy an afternoon of learning at our Women Owning and Appreciating Woodlands (WOAW) Workshop. Speakers include representatives from Michigan Forest Association, NW Invasive Species Network, and Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy. We will discuss a variety of topics and will finish the afternoon with a visual forest management plan activity. Learn more about your local forest ecology and how to be a better forest steward.
The Environmental Stewardship Recommendations for Contractors training is for professionals who are doing restoration, landscaping, construction, or road maintenance work. We will cover topics such as navigating pesticide rules and laws, applying for soil erosion permits, helpful organizations and information for environmental management, and mitigating tree damage and oak wilt spread. The day will end with a Q & A panel with all speakers.
Calling all women adventurers! Join us as we head off trail to explore the natural communities at Gahagan. Terrain will be rugged and a bit more difficult than our regular hikes. Waterproof footwear is highly recommended.
Join MFA and PICD to discuss how to plant and care for seedlings, and how and what to order from a conservation district seedling sale. We will also be creating the area’s first Neighbor Network, a coalition of like-minded private landowners interested in helping each other with their tree planting projects and meet their forest stewardship goals. We will have pizza and beverages available for attendees.
Join Michigan Forest Association and Mid-Michigan Land Conservancy in welcoming spring with a walk through the woods at Bunker Nature Preserve. We'll discuss the local flora and fauna of this wooded preserve. Wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared for rain or shine (though the event will be cancelled if extreme enough weather).
Michigan Forest Association is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (EIN: 38-1981176) and gifts are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
